Marge Rosen
Conductor, Trumpet, Drums
Marge Rosen is a music educator. She is a music instructor for Peninsula College and directs the Jazz Ensemble. She maintains a busy trumpet studio.
She is the Music Director of Stardust Big Band and also plays trumpet with the band.
Marge is the Executive Director for the Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra and plays lead trumpet with SWOJO.
She conducts the Port Townsend Summer Band.
Marge also performs with the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra.
Bio
Biography
Marge Rosen is conductor, music director, trumpet player and drummer.
On the North Olympic Peninsula, she is a music instructor at Peninsula College and is the director of the college jazz ensemble. She conducts the Port Townsend Summer Band and is the music director of Stardust Big Band.
Marge is in demand as a trumpet player. She has played trumpet and percussion with the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra. She plays trumpet with Stardust Big Band and enjoys playing drums with area combos.
Marge plays lead trumpet for Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra and is the Executive Director of this nonprofit arts organization. She established an international jazz composition contest for women composers and an all-girls jazz workshop. She has conducted many community bands, orchestras and jazz ensembles in the Seattle area.
Marge has performed with Ingrid Jensen, Christine Jensen, Mimi Fox, Grace Kelly, John Thomas, Sheryl Bailey and Sherrie Maricle.
Marge has many years experience as a band director teaching K-12 music in public schools in Washington, New York and Maryland.
As a veteran of the United States Navy Band, she has performed for the President of the United States, numerous foreign dignitaries, and at the 1994 World Cup. She has enjoyed performing across the country from Carnegie Hall to Benaroya Hall and from Adak, Alaska to Lima, Peru.
She earned a masters degree in music education from Ithaca College in New York.
