Marge Rosen
Conductor, Trumpet, Drums
Marge Rosen is Director of Bands at Peninsula College.
She is the Music Director of Stardust Big Band and also plays trumpet with the band.
Marge also conducts the Port Townsend Summer Band, performs with the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra, and is a founding member of Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra.
She maintains a busy trumpet studio.
Marge is available as a clinician and adjudicator.
Bio
Biography
Marge Rosen is a music educator, conductor, band director, trumpet player and drummer.
On the North Olympic Peninsula, she Director of Bands at Peninsula College. She conducts the Port Townsend Summer Band and is the music director of Stardust Big Band.
Marge is in demand as a trumpet player. She plays trumpet and percussion with the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra, Stardust Big Band and enjoys playing drums with area combos.
Marge played trumpet for Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra for 24 years and was the Executive Director of this nonprofit arts organization. She established an international jazz composition contest for women composers and an all-girls jazz workshop.
She has conducted many community bands, orchestras and jazz ensembles in the Seattle area.
Marge has performed with Ingrid Jensen, Christine Jensen, Mimi Fox, Grace Kelly, John Thomas, Sheryl Bailey, Dee Daniels and Sherrie Maricle.
Marge has many years experience as a band director teaching K-12 music in public schools in Washington, New York and Maryland.
As a veteran of the United States Navy Band, she has performed for the President of the United States, numerous foreign dignitaries, and at the 1994 World Cup. She has enjoyed performing across the country from Carnegie Hall to Benaroya Hall and from Adak, Alaska to Lima, Peru.
She earned a bachelors degree in music education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and a masters degree in music education from Ithaca College in New York.
